Hello there, just for heads up pardon my writing style and professionalism. This is my first article, but I assure you that you will find it intriguing and interactive. Stop whatever you are doing and read to the last punctuation mark…yeah, I saw that expression coming, I didn’t really mean that, just take your time.

Somehow society has made us believe that who we are hangs upon the colour we wear on our skins, families we were born into, our past experiences, career choices, personality tests, belief system and even the almighty DNA. Permit me to burst your bubble …here we go……THEY WERE WRONG!

YES, I SAID SO

The story of the famous American Televangelist and Best seller Author, Joyce Meyer further gives me the impetus to defy all forms of societal definition of who we are. This inspiring lady would not be limited by the label of her horrible past experiences, rather she forged ahead. She made a choice not to be tagged a victim but instead breaking through the confines of resentment, self-pity and bitterness. Joyce Meyer overcame the pains of her past by finding real love, joy and peace. Now back to the subject of discussion; this remarkable story would never have been, had she not recognized her true identity. I hear someone ask, so what is Identity?

Identity is everything that makes you unique. identity is beyond your genealogy, your background, your personality, your beliefs, race, your career, your DNA and even lies people have told us about ourselves.

Let’s get it straight- human beings are not animals. It is however interesting to observe that compared to humans, animals seem to have perfectly mastered who they are and have no iota of doubt about it but the same cannot be said of humanity.

Identity is the essence of being, the guaranteed channel to birthing one’s purpose. Socrates said and I quote “know thyself, for once we know ourselves, we may learn how to care for ourselves” There is a necessity to know one’s self. Our future hinges upon the knowledge of self.

Dear Reader, at this junction you might asking these questions right now; Who am I? What is my essence of living? Where do I fit in?

To answer these questions let me begin by telling you who you are not- You are not created to be in anyone’s shadow, you are not your ugly past, you do not trample on others to rise and you are not someone to trample over, you are not self-conceited, you are not proud, you are not rude, you are not the lies you were told to belief, you are not a failure and you are not a disappointment, you are not made to fit in.

Who are you? You are unique, You are beautiful, You are wise, You are royalty, You are strong, the earnest creation of the creator awaits your manifestation, You are great, You have all it takes to break through and be a voice to reckon with.

In case you are looking for a sign to start or do something unique, this is your cue do it. Your identity is the bedrock to fulfilling purpose.

Putting it in plain words, when you find your identity, you will realise that you find peace and, in the capacity, and creativity of your identity, you are to serve others. I almost forgot something important, have a community of like minds.

In summary, in searching for Identity I hope you find the creator himself, because in Him we live, breathe and have our being. I quote from one of pages in the greatest book of light “Before I made you in your mother’s womb. I knew you and chose you for a special work”. For emphasis sake, no matter how trivia, unique and saturated those ideas popping in your mind tends towards do it. It is definitely different because its you, let it resonate that the difference between you and those who change their immediate community and world positively is diligently working and unearthing the unique gift of piece in them. Be unapologetically you! I believe in you!
